Trim, Gutters, Flooring & Painting in Maine
This is the punch list work that decides how a house actually holds up: fascia and soffit, trim, gutters and downspouts, ventilation, and painting. Gutters are the one most people skip and the one that causes the most damage — a roof that drains into the wrong place puts water against the foundation and rots the fascia above it. Fascia and soffit rot in Maine almost always traces back to a gutter that has been overflowing or short-dumping for years.
What the work includes

What drives the price
We do not publish a flat number, because two houses the same size rarely cost the same. These are the things that actually move it, and we will show you which ones apply after we look.
- Linear footage of fascia, soffit and gutter
- Whether the rot has reached the rafter tails behind the fascia
- Gutter material and whether runs need to be seamless
- Height and staging for second-story work
- Square footage of painting, and how much prep it needs
- Flooring material and whether the subfloor has to be levelled

Common questions
The questions we get asked most about exterior & interior in Maine.
How often should gutters be cleaned in Maine?
Twice a year at minimum — late spring after the seeds drop, and late autumn after the leaves are down, because a gutter full of frozen debris is how ice dams start. If you have pines or maples overhanging the roof, three times is closer to right. A gutter that is already sagging or leaking at the seams is usually cheaper to replace seamless than to repair every year.
What causes fascia rot in Maine?
Almost always water where it should not be: an overflowing gutter, a downspout that dumps against the foundation, a drip edge that lets water run behind the fascia instead of off it, or an ice dam backing up at the eave. The wood is the symptom. If the water path is not corrected, new fascia rots the same way within a few years — so we fix the cause, then the board.
What is the best time of year to paint a house in Maine?
Late spring through early autumn, when daytime temperatures stay above roughly fifty degrees and there is no rain in the forecast for the curing window. Maine's short season is real: paint applied in cold weather does not cure properly and fails early. The prep — scraping, sanding, priming bare wood — matters more in this climate than the paint brand does.
Do you install seamless gutters?
Yes, formed on site to the length of each run so there are seams only at corners and outlets, which is the main reason they leak less than sectional gutters. We size the run to the roof area it drains — an undersized gutter on a big roof overflows in exactly the storms you need it for — and we pitch it so it actually carries water to the outlet.
